Interior Design: The Transformative Power of Plants

Décoration d'intérieur : Le pouvoir transformateur des plantes

Today we're talking about our 2 passions: plants and interior design. We promise you stories, an ode to our beloved plant friends and loads of tips. And above all, 3 minutes of pure pleasure (the time it takes to read the article — just to be clear…)

The benefits of plants in interior design

In the contemporary world of interior design, plants have transcended their traditional role to become true protagonists of decoration. They bring a touch of vitality and freshness that revitalises and transforms spaces. We no longer see plants merely as decorative elements but as life companions that share our daily lives, our home, our cocoon.

Plants bring so much to our décor and our little world, adding not only colour and texture, but also a sense of life and growth that evolves over time. Like true companions we'd watch grow (and say to them: "you know, I knew you when you were tiny").

Unlike static decorative elements, plants grow, react to their environment and go through life cycles that reflect the seasons and the passage of time.

What's more, they are true atmosphere creators. They can soften rigid architectural lines, bring freshness to empty spaces or add a layer of visual complexity to minimalist décors. It's about inspirations and feelings — plants and interior design are the perfect alliance.

Choosing the ideal plants for your space

These wonderful ladies allow us to personalise our living spaces in a truly unique way! They reflect our personal tastes, our lifestyle and even our aspirations. They become decorative elements that we interact with daily, caring for them as they care for us. And yes, they do care for us! They purify our air and above all they do wonders for our mood. Who hasn't marvelled at a new leaf after a truly rubbish day? In short, we adore them everywhere and always.

A few care tips for your indoor plants

It's important to choose plants suited to each space. Take into account the light, humidity and available space. Shade plants like the Zamioculcas are perfectly suited to dimly lit rooms, while cacti (and succulents) prefer full sun. Let's not forget they've come all the way from Mexico and have to cope with Paris's grey weather…

Inspiring decoration ideas with indoor plants

Playing with heights: shelves and hanging plants

You can create height levels. Wait, let us explain — use plant stands of different heights to create an interesting dynamic in your space. Combining plants of different sizes creates a sense of depth and volume. Give it a try, it looks pretty stunning.

Colour palette: pots and accessories for plants

For all those who love colour: play with it and tame it. Let your inner Kandinsky out. Pots and plants offer an infinite colour palette. Match the colours of your pots with those of your walls or furniture for a harmonious effect, or go for bold contrasts to make certain areas stand out. The cards (or rather the colour chart) are in your hands.

Our little design tips

We don't claim to be Philippe Starck, but we're sharing them anyway

Mix up your pot styles. Combining ceramic, terracotta, metal or even recycled material pots can add a touch of originality to your interior. We love it! When a pot stands out from the ordinary and seems a little mismatched with your interior, it draws even more attention to itself. And isn't that ultimately what we want? For everyone to look at and appreciate our sublime plant collection? Yes, yes, we agree (ultimate goal)

You can use plants as space dividers. Let us explain: in large open spaces or studios, plants can serve as natural dividers, creating "rooms" without fully closing them off. To avoid large empty spaces (and particularly dubious room dividers), plants can dress an entire area and create even more space within it.

Accentuate the focal points. An imposing plant or an indoor tree can become a magnificent focal point in a room. Place a large plant next to a window or in an empty corner to draw the eye. You'll see — it will become the real star.

All of this to say that plants and interior design share a common goal: transforming spaces into places where it feels good to live.
